End of SP-BSP alliance may help BJP strengthen position in Uttar Pradesh

The BJP won 62 out of the 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2019 elections with a vote share of 49.6%. Compared to 2014, this is a decline of nine seats despite an increase of seven percentage points in vote share.
